I is for Information

It's been awhile since my last post, and I'm not promising any more after this but today, today, I have the urge to pound out some thoughts.

The information age we live in leaves me simply....in awe. The Internet is no longer for geeks and nerds. It's no longer a glorified network. It's us, we have evolved and the Internet is a product, no; the Internet is an extension of us. It's almost like a primitive form of telekinesis. Web 2.0 is a big part of this....I like the name a lot, Web 2.0 is pretty flashy- although given all the flashy web names of the past I kind of dislike the name at the same time. I don't think Web 2.0 the name is too flashy though, and it wouldn't matter if it was because this is a movement. The social connections being made are by masses of individuals acting alone and solitary. It's for this reason that it can't be stopped.

I have a new google calendar, I've actually had it for a couple of months now, but it's the most amazing thing because it'll let you interface your calendar with people around you and institutions around you as well.

We have all these Web 2.0 devices, Facebook for finding friends and furthering friendships, proximate and not. Social Calendars allowing collaboration of schedules between friends furthering friendships. Social bookmarking sites letting us share our sweetest 'site links with friends thus helping us further friendships and make better use of our schedules; we c-o-ll-a-b-o-r-a-t-e.

I'm just waiting for all this to tighten up. I'm waiting for one site that can do it all, for a split second, and then become obsolete to Web 3.0

If as a species, our purpose is to survive, and we improve those odds by communicating because that allows increased equity of knowledge thus better opportunity for street urchins of Uganda to unify the theory of strings....ahhh fuck it, I'd rather just tell myself a myopic story- Web 2.0...is for fun! And, for slacking on studying.

Regards,
